Earnest Money Policy

Some of our events may request payment ahead of the event in order to reserve your spot and may indicate that you get your money back if you attend.

This earnest money payment is a way of more carefully accounting for attendees who are committing to attend an event that has expenses, such as food or presenter honoraria. C&S generally does not "make money" on earnest money unless a paid attendee does not show up or donates what would be refunded.

All or a portion of this payment may be refunded if and only if two conditions are met:

  1. The event description explicitly says that payments made ahead of time will be refunded.
  2. You actually attend the majority of the event.

Oftentimes, C&S will ask attendees who've paid an earnest money payment to choose one of three options for their refund:

  1. Refund back to payment method or via PayPal.
  2. Donation to Code & Supply Co. LLC, which operates the Workspace & Community Center and other C&S programs.
  3. Donation to Code & Supply Scholarship Fund, Inc., our sibling non-profit organization.

If you believe we have failed to prompt you for a refund under our earnest money program, please contact us for resolution.
