Organizational Rules
These rules apply to all workspace members, event patrons, invited guests, paying sponsors, vendors, staff, and volunteers, and applies to all spaces whether physically at an event or virtually on any communication networks. You are responsible for your own conduct as well as the conduct of your guests and/or persons acting on your behalf.
Personal Conduct For Representatives Of Code & Supply
When participating in certain roles, you are acting as a representative of Code & Supply and your behavior should reflect that duty. All persons associated with Code & Supply are required to avoid conduct that is detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in Code & Supply.
Roles that may fall under this policy include, but are not limited to, event presenters, speakers, volunteers, paid workers, or contracted staff.
Misconduct Procedures
Anyone asked to stop inappropriate behavior is expected to comply at once.
If a participant engages in inappropriate behavior, the event organizers will take necessary action to preserve a welcoming environment for all other attendees. This includes warning the offender, expulsion from the event with no refund or payment, temporarily or indefinitely prohibiting the offender from participating in Code & Supply events or communication forums, or contacting local law enforcement or venue security.
Event organizers may redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants.
Reporting
If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. Harassment and other conduct policy violations reduce the value of our space/event for everyone. We want you to be happy at our event. People like you make our event a better place.
You may report either personally or anonymously.
Anonymous Report
You may report an incident anonymously by filling out this form here: Anonymous Conduct Incident Report Form
If reported anonymously, we cannot follow up with you, but will still fully investigate the issue and take any action deemed necessary to prevent a recurrence.
Personal Report
You may make a personal report by:
- Event: Talking to or emailing event staff (event staff can be identified by staff t-shirts), or by calling/texting the number listed on event materials, (412) 500—9199. Please use this hotline solely for matters related to our conduct policy, including reports.
- Workspace: Contacting a workspace admin by emailing workspace@codeandsupply.co
- Slack: Flagging a Slack post with the :conduct_warning: emoji, and if the action continues, go into the #-incident-response channel and privately message any team member. (They are listed in the topic line in the channel.)
- Meetup: Send a direct message to an organizer or co-organizer (not an event organizer). The list of current organizers are here: https://www.meetup.com/Pittsburgh-Code-Supply/members/?op=leaders
- Email: Please send a message to incident-response@codeandsupply.co
When taking a personal report, our staff will make sure you are safe and cannot be overheard. They may involve other event or workspace staff to make sure your report is managed properly. Once safe, we'll ask you to tell us about what happened. This can be upsetting, but we'll handle it as respectfully as possible, and you can bring someone to support you. You won't be asked to confront anyone and we won't tell anyone who you are.
If requested or appropriate, event staff help you contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise aid those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.
In some cases, you may not be informed of the final resolution of the investigation into a complaint.
Enforcement
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
All event speakers, vendors, volunteers, staff, and attendees are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, exhibitors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, event organizers, workspace staff, and Slack admins retain the right to take any actions to keep the space a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from the space/event with no refund.
Event organizers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants.
We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues, workspaces, online communities, and event-related social activities. We think people should follow these rules outside event activities too!
